TRANSFORM - Innovating crop rotations for climate-resilient agriculture

TRANSFORM

TRANSFORM is a transnational project which supports farmers in adapting to climate change by developing more resilient crop rotations that improve yields, optimise soil nutrients and enhance biodiversity.

Through innovative decision support tools from virtual reality and Europe-wide data exploration to advanced agricultural, economic and environmental modelling, farmers explore rotation options tailored to their future local conditions.

Funded through the EU’s Horizon Europe programme, TRANSFORM contributes to making agriculture more climate-resilient to reach the goals of the EU Mission: Adaptation to Climate Change.

Project approach

Co-creation

Through workshops and knowledge exchange, farmers and local stakeholders co-design climate-resilient crop rotations together with scientists.

Scientific tools

Innovative tools, including the Future Rotations Explorer and Visualisation Toolkit, allow farmers to visualise climate change effects on cropping, promoting more informed adaptation planning for resilient farming systems.

Roadmaps

Regional roadmaps are drawn up taking into account the main past and future issues affecting agriculture, the regulatory frameworks that provide targets and the levers for adaptation. Crop rotations are placed at the heart of solutions.

Pilot regions

The TRANSFORM project is active across 8 regions in Europe’s Atlantic biogeographic area. In these 8 regions, farmers, researchers and local actors are redesigning new crop rotations to meet the challenges of climate change.

Partners

TRANSFORM brings together a dedicated and multidisciplinary team of experts committed to supporting agricultural, environmental and social transitions.

The partners include research institutes, public bodies, professional organisations, associations and businesses.
